Guardian: The Lonely and Great God

Guardian: The Lonely Great God Netflix remained with us for 16 episodes and gave us one of the best (and the saddest) love stories in a Kdrama. The fans can never possibly get over the bromance between Kim Shin (played by Gong Yoo) and Wang Yeo (played by Lee Dong-Wook). Even the side love story of the show, blooming between Kim Sun (played by Yoo In Na) and Wang Yeo, has us in tears. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the show Guardian: The Lonely Great God had the highest viewership when it aired back in 2017.

If you are one of us and cannot help but revisit the feels that this Kdrama gave us, check out the list of the most memorable moments from Guardian: The Lonely Great God Netflix.

When the Knights come to save our Damsel in distress

When Eun Tak is kidnapped by some loan sharks, our great duo of the Goblin and the Grim Reaper come to save her. That slow walk, the spotlight, the aura of the scene is unforgettable. I get goosebumps just by thinking about that scene. The fog and the wind just add to the mystic feeling of the runway walk.

The Let’s take some selfies time

The scene when Eun Tak gets a camera as a gift for graduating high school is such a feel-good scene. She decides to get some clicks with Kim Shin and the Grim Reaper, and as we watch them having fun, laughing without a worry in their laugh, our hearts are molten. But I guess we all knew that clicking pictures directly means something bad is about to happen.

That was my first mistake in 900 years

All Kdrama fans can nod to this that when our OTP fights in that cute, banter way, it is the cutest thing out there. I get heart eyes whenever I watch this scene where Eun Tak is suggesting some names for the Grim Reaper to pick. And all of a sudden, Kim Shin and Eun Tak are at each other’s throats. She reminds him of her third wish, which was never fulfilled: to get a boyfriend. To this, our Goblin replies that he is right here, pointing at himself. One cannot help but laugh as they both run to their rooms in shame.

The first date of Sunny and Grim Reaper

Guardian: The Lonely Great God Netflix has the cutest supporting character in the whole wide world. The awkward Grim Reaper is so endearing to watch, and even Sunny is whipped. When asked what he liked (like, hobbies and stuff), the Grim Reaper replies “You”, making us squeal and Sunny to bite her lip.

The Bromance

There are so few Kdramas where we can see some good bromance between the boys without them being involved in a love triangle. Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun had the perfect chemistry on camera, and whenever they shared a scene, it was a heartfelt moment and made us roll on the floor with laughter.

The horror movie

Dates for Kim Shin and Eun Tak are hard to come by, but when they do, of course, we expect them to be filled with romance. But what we got was a date where we were just laughing like maniacs. Our OTP is out for a horror movie, and being a gentleman, Kim Shin offers his hand to Eun Tak if she gets scared watching the movie. Oh, how we all laughed when it was the 900-year-old Goblin screaming bloody murder in the movie theatre. (Fun fact: The movie was Train to Busan, Gong Yoo’s own movie.)

When the Goblin fades away

Kim Shin did it before Spider-Man made it cool. Dying as you slowly fade away. The scene was a slow tear fest for the fans as we watched Eun Tak requesting him to stay, and he just softly smiles at her as the end nears. We were bawling by the time Eun Tak started scribbling that she should not forget that she is the Goblin’s bride.

Guardian: The Lonely Great God Netflix came out four years ago and has stayed with us because of the perfect acting of Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook, and other actors. They gave us the characters that we will always pine for. If you are still going through the aftereffects of Guardian: The Lonely Great God, then try these Kdramas to change the pace.
